Over
the years these teams gradually merged and in 1994 Luton Caribbean Cricket
Club was formed.
The
growing membership consists of playing, non playing and associate
members.
The
senior team promotes a highly competitive side playing both locally and
nationally. We currently play in the Luton & District Midweek Cricket
League, the Millman League, the Victoria Mutual Competition, as well as Weekends
friendlies. We also boast a youth team of mixed
culture, abilities and age. Since 1995 we have been entering our youths in the Luton
Borough Council seven a side competitions and have excelled by finishing
runners-up, both for the under 11’s and 13’s.
They have also participated in the Malcolm Marshall One-Day
Competition, and the Victoria Mutual Youth Section Competition amongst
others, We are extremely proud of our youth section and their
achievements.
Some
of our senior players were involved in the Luton Combined Cricket Team
whom represented Luton in the prestigious Clive Lloyd and Victoria Mutual
National Knock-Out competitions in 1995 of which they won. The team also finished third in the Victoria Mutual National
Competition. They were also voted
team of the Competition.
LCCC
has also enjoyed other successes over the years, winning high-status
competitions both locally and nationally. We finished Runner-s Up in 1995
in the Luton & District Midweek League Premier Division and won the Unity
Trophy on several occasions. In
1996 we entered the Millman Competition and ended up as victorious winners. Our players have also been participating in community matches
held every year at Wardown Park. This was hosted by Luton Borough Council
who also awarded us a distinguished award for services to the community. LCCC also hosted the Derbyshire’s Allan Warner Benefit Match.
You
can find us playing our home games at Leagrave Playing Fields, Sundon Park
or Icknield Playing Fields in Luton.
